On the hunt for the best cheese curds in Wisconsin

We are currently driving through Wisconsin since we decided to change up our itinerary and head to Minneapolis for the night before Mount Rushmore.  So naturally that meant we needed to get cheese.  We stopped off at a local place, Humbird Cheese and spent $80 on cheese and gifts (totally worth it).  We then got fried cheese curds at Culvers.  So here we are, 15 pounds heavier, but satisfied.

Getting ready to hit the road again...

Breakfast at Yolk (if you are ever in Chicago it is a must) was delicious and we are packing up to head west.  I'm gonna miss Chicago because it will always be special to me, but we still have 26 days of adventure ahead of us =)

Chicago

We made it to Chicago!  So yesterday we departed from Astoria, NY a little after 7:30 am EST and began our journey!  We drove from New York, to New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan (briefly), and finally Illinois. The latter four being brand new to me.

We got out and took pictures when when we crossed state lines, loaded up on gas three times and I downloaded Roadside America app and License Plate Game app.  After over 800 miles and 13 hours of driving we got  into Chicago around 7:45 pm CST.  I was so happy to be back in a city that I love!  We got our hotel through priceline.com and it is gorgeous.

Last night we got dinner at a local pub,  The Emerald Loop Bar and Grill, and then walked down Michigan Avenue and saw the sites (check out my Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter for pics).  I am so glad that we stopped here <3

Now we are off the breakfast at Yolk (which is one of the main reasons we stayed in Chicago overnight in the first place) and then gonna head out to our next destination: Mount Rushmore or possibly Des Moines.  Till next time!

A text message

On July 12, 2013 at 10:10 am my boyfriend sent me a text message:

"So if I quit wanna spend the rest of the summer driving around the US?"

At the time, I didn't think we'd actually do it, but sure enough, that following Monday, he quit.  And less than a week later we were planing out an itinerary using Google Maps.  I've always wanted to do something like this, so I started up this blog to write about this whole experience.  I am both excited and a little terrified to see where this journey takes us.  It's an adventure!  Here goes nothing...
